Tequisquiapan Mayor Hector Magaña Announces 2027 Re‑election Bid

Héctor Iván Magaña Rentería, the incumbent mayor of Tequisquiapan in the Mexican state of Querétaro, confirmed his intention to run for re‑election in the 2027 municipal elections. He said he will wait for the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) party to issue the internal call and guidelines before formally entering the primary, while continuing to focus on his current duties at the town hall.

Separately, Andrea Jardón, a Morena activist and state‑level adviser in Toluca, criticised the prospect of municipal re‑election, arguing that officials who failed to deliver during a term cannot be expected to improve if allowed a second term. She also urged that women be given leadership roles in party coordination, highlighting the need for capable female participation in local politics.
