Teramo: Funding revoked for Sant’Agostino Church

The Interministerial Committee for Economic Programming and Sustainable Development (CIPESS) has announced the defunding of reconstruction projects for the Sant’Agostino Church in Teramo. Following a decree published in the Official Gazette, nearly two million euros in previously allocated funds have been revoked.

Records show that of the initial one million euros allocated in 2015 for earthquake damage repairs, only 125.95 euros had been utilized. A subsequent one million euro allocation from 2021 is also being fully canceled. The CIPESS has decided to reallocate these resources to fund interventions for the Church of Santa Maria in Panthanis in Montereale, L'Aquila.

Separately, Teramo is moving forward with a major 9.5 million euro restoration project for the former San Giovanni Monastery in Piazza Verdi. This site, which houses the historical headquarters of the Braga Conservatory, is undergoing seismic upgrading, structural consolidation, and energy efficiency improvements. The project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2028.
