Teramo Province Marks 220th Anniversary with Debate on Democratic Language

The Province of Teramo celebrated its 220th anniversary with a public conference titled “When Words Divide,” focusing on the language of democracy. The event featured President Camillo D'Angelo, newspaper director Luca Telese, constitutional law professor Enzo Di Salvatore, Bishop Lorenzo Leuzzi of the Diocese of Teramo‑Atri, and Vicario del Prefetto Alberto Di Gaetano. Participants discussed the growing rigidity of public debate, the spectacle‑driven nature of conflict, and the complex relationship between media and politics, especially in the age of artificial intelligence. They warned that AI can threaten both freedom of expression and the credibility of information, urging a return to a discourse that seeks factual consistency rather than mere confirmation of pre‑existing views, and calling for citizens to regain the right to choose their administrators.
