Teramo Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie reopens after restoration

The Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie in Teramo has officially reopened following extensive restoration work. The project, which involved seven years of planning by the Fondo Edifici di Culto (FEC), includes new stamped asphalt, improved greenery, and upgraded lighting to enhance the monumental entrance to the sanctuary.

To mark the reopening on September 8, 2026, the area featured intricate floral art displays created by the Infiorata in Arte di Torricella. The revitalization aims to transform the space from a mere parking area into a dedicated area for pedestrians and spiritual contemplation.

There is ongoing local discussion regarding a prior agreement with the Municipality of Teramo to ensure that the newly renovated square and avenue remain free of automobile parking. Advocates suggest that maintaining the area as a pedestrian-only zone is essential to preserving the aesthetic and spiritual dignity of the site.
