Teramo water shortage threatens industrial fire safety
The regional council group Abruzzo Insieme is demanding clarifications from ARAP (Agenzia regionale delle attività produttive) regarding a water supply crisis in the Teramo area. Concerns center on the Carapollo reservoirs, which have a total capacity of approximately 40,000 cubic meters but are reportedly filled to a depth of only about one meter.
This shortage poses significant risks to local industrial hubs, specifically regarding water pressure and availability for fire prevention systems. Regional Councilor Giovanni Cavallari highlighted that companies pay for services intended to guarantee water for fire safety, and the current lack of pressure threatens both personnel and facilities.
Additionally, the group noted that accumulation tanks in Montecchia, Castellalto, are reportedly not being used. Abruzzo Insieme has requested data on water resources from the Vezzola River, distribution volumes, and the specific measures ARAP is taking to restore full efficiency to the network.
