TerapIA launches AI assistant for emotional accompaniment

The Spanish application TerapIA has introduced Pía, an artificial intelligence assistant designed to provide emotional accompaniment. Developed by a team of twelve psychologists, the AI uses evidence-based techniques to guide users through personal goal setting and journaling.

Alberto Vaca, a partner at TerapIA, emphasizes that the tool is intended for emotional support rather than clinical diagnosis or medical intervention. Unlike general-purpose models like ChatGPT, Pía is trained to recognize complex issues and redirect users to human specialists or emergency services, such as suicide prevention hotlines, when necessary.

The rise of AI-driven psychological platforms reflects a growing market for affordable mental health tools. These services typically offer 24/7 availability, personalized experiences, and high confidentiality, with monthly subscription costs ranging between 10 and 25 euros/dollars.
