TeraWulf doubles Muskie Data Campus power capacity to 1 GW

TeraWulf has doubled the contracted power capacity for its Muskie Data Campus in eastern Kentucky, increasing the commitment from 500 megawatts (MW) to 1 gigawatt (GW). The campus is designed to support artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads.

The expanded electric service agreement with Kentucky Power, a unit of American Electric Power, includes an accelerated timeline for the second phase of development. While the second 500-MW phase was originally slated for the second half of 2030, it is now expected to be delivered in 2029. The first 500-MW phase is scheduled to begin ramping up in 2028. Both phases remain subject to approval by the Kentucky Public Service Commission.

As part of the agreement, TeraWulf will fund $100 million in winter bill credits for residential customers provided by Kentucky Power over the first 10 years of the contract. Additionally, TeraWulf will cover the estimated financing costs for Kentucky Power’s planned 760-MW combined-cycle gas plant at Big Sandy, a move intended to keep the costs of serving the increased demand from falling on existing customers.
