Terengganu proposed as venue for 2027 SEA Games endurance events
Terengganu is expected to serve as a venue for equestrian endurance events during the 2027 SEA Games. Datuk Abdul Rashid Yaakub, CEO of the Malaysia ASEAN Sports Organizing Committee (MASOC), stated that the Terengganu state government has officially expressed interest in hosting the discipline.
Terengganu is considered a strong candidate due to its extensive experience, hosting at least three international endurance championships annually. While the four main clusters for the 2027 games have been set in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Sarawak, and Penang, Terengganu may serve as an additional venue. A site visit is planned for next month to assess readiness.
In a separate collaborative effort, the official mascot for the 2027 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, Tuah, will be featured during the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026 to promote the upcoming multi-sport event. Organizers aim to leverage the wide broadcast reach of LTdL, which is expected to be aired by over 21 broadcasters across Southeast Asia and beyond, to increase international awareness of the 2027 games.
