Teresa Arnandis discusses biological impacts of summer routines

Teresa Arnandis, a doctor in Biomedicine and Biochemistry known as ‘Lady Science’, has released a new book titled ‘Eres un milagro andante’ (Paidós). The work explores the complexity of the human body as a delicate biological system.

Arnandis highlights how summer routines—including heat, altered schedules, and late-night social activities—can strain human physiology. She notes that while the body continues to function, it must adapt to new biorhythms caused by longer days and changes in activity.

Specifically, she warns against the habit of late, heavy dinners and irregular sleep patterns. Arnandis points out that late-night eating and attempting to compensate with daytime sleep can disrupt circadian rhythms, as daytime sleep is not as restorative as nocturnal sleep.
