Teresa Parodi receives Doctorado Honoris Causa from UNSL
The Universidad Nacional de San Luis (UNSL) has awarded its highest academic distinction, the Doctorado Honoris Causa, to singer-songwriter, educator, and former Minister of Culture, Teresa Parodi.
The award, which was unanimously approved by the University's Superior Council, recognizes Parodi's artistic career, her work as a rural teacher, and her commitment to human rights and collective memory. During the ceremony held at the Mauricio López Auditorium, officials highlighted her contributions to Argentine and Latin American cultural heritage and her role in promoting federalist policies during her tenure as the nation's first Minister of Culture.
Following the ceremony, Parodi delivered a keynote lecture titled ‘El arte en la universidad pública: formación, creación y compromiso social’ (Art in the public university: formation, creation, and social commitment). In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of education, stating, ‘Without education, one can never be truly free nor have a future.’
