Teresópolis authorities condemn political hostility against businesses

The City Hall of Teresópolis and the local commerce union (Sincomércio) have issued formal statements of repudiation following incidents of political intimidation and discrimination against local merchants and employees. The backlash follows a viral video featuring lawyer Klaus Fins, who suggested that business owners sympathetic to the Workers' Party (PT) should mark their storefronts with red stars and encouraged consumers to boycott such establishments.

Sincomércio Teresópolis emphasized that political differences should not justify personal attacks or actions that threaten the reputation and economic sustainability of businesses. The municipal administration added that electoral divergences cannot be used as instruments of persecution or hostility, asserting that democracy requires the plurality of ideas and the right to express preferences without fear of economic retaliation.
