Teresópolis prosecutors charge five men with attempted feminicide

The Rio de Janeiro State Public Prosecutor's Office has denounced five men for the attempted feminicide of a transgender woman in Teresópolis. The incident occurred on August 28 near the Casa de Cultura in the Fátima neighborhood.

According to the prosecution, the suspects, who reportedly identify with neo-Nazi ideology, approached the victim's group and initiated a confrontation. One individual attacked the victim with a knife, striking her in the ribs, while the other four men allegedly provided support and encouraged the assault.

Following the attack, Civil Police arrested the five suspects in Praça Higino da Silveira. Authorities seized a bloody knife, a second knife, a balaclava, and a glove. Investigators noted that the group had been under scrutiny for disseminating hate speech and Nazi ideology via social media.
