Teresópolis protesters demand removal of mobility secretary

Protesters gathered in front of the Teresópolis City Hall in Rio de Janeiro to demand the removal of the Secretary of Public Security and Urban Mobility, Sérgio Mauro. The demonstrations center on recent changes to traffic flow on Reta, new rotary parking fines, and modified vehicle circulation rules.

Local merchants argue that new regulations regarding stopping, loading, and unloading are harming businesses and local tourism. Protesters claim these significant mobility changes were implemented without prior public consultation. In response, the group has filed a formal request for the secretary's resignation and petitioned the City Council to cancel parking fines.

The Secretariat of Security and Mobility maintains that the measures are based on technical studies intended to improve traffic fluidity.
