Terhole traffic crash on N290 kills four cyclists in the Netherlands

A severe traffic collision occurred on the N290 near Terhole, Netherlands, when a car driven by a 19‑year‑old man from Hulst struck a group of cyclists heading to a school camp. Four people died – three pupils from primary school De Warande in Axel and the school’s director – while three other children were injured and taken to hospital.

The driver was arrested and remains in custody as the investigation continues. Local officials, including provincial representatives and the King’s Commissioner, visited the site to lay wreaths and express condolences.
