Terma defense company site targeted by large demonstration in Lystrup
Police in East Jutland have detained and charged 141 people following a large-scale demonstration at the headquarters of the defense company Terma in Lystrup. The protesters blocked roadways and refused to comply with police orders to move to designated demonstration areas.
During the incident, red paint was thrown onto the company’s facade and windows, an act police are investigating as vandalism. While most demonstrators were released after being asked to leave via bus, 40 individuals were taken to Aarhus Police Headquarters for refusing to provide identification. Two individuals remain in custody as authorities work to establish their identities.
Terma, which produces components for the F-35 fighter jet and various radar and defense systems, has been a frequent target of protests. Previous demonstrations have focused on opposing Danish arms exports to Israel. East Jutland Police Inspector Anders Uhrskov stated that the department maintains a dialogue with Terma regarding security threats and adjusts activities to ensure the safety of employees during such actions.
