Termas de Río Hondo boy reports mother for child abandonment

A 12-year-old boy arrived alone at a police station in Termas de Río Hondo, Santiago del Estero, in the early hours of Friday morning to report that his mother had abandoned him and his two younger siblings. The child informed officers at Comisaría N° 50 that his 33-year-old mother, identified as E. G. D., had left the home to consume alcohol with friends, leaving the three children without adult supervision.

Upon receiving the report, police officers went to the family residence to verify the situation. They found the two younger siblings sleeping and an adult male present in the home. The man identified himself as the children's father, stating he had been at the property for approximately one week performing repair work and had not realized his eldest son had left the house.

The father confirmed the mother's absence and expressed his intention to appear before the judiciary to formally request legal custody of the children. The case has been referred to the Women and Family Police Station (Comisaría N° 6), with prosecutor Rafael Zanni overseeing the investigation to determine necessary protection measures for the minors.
