Termas del Daymán to host first Festival de la Empanada

The first Festival de la Empanada will take place on September 19 and 20 in Termas del Daymán, Uruguay. Held in celebration of the 69th anniversary of the tourist center, the event aims to showcase the traditions, gastronomy, and cultural identity of various localities within the department.

The festival will be held at the municipal grounds behind School No. 34. The program includes an empanada contest featuring 20 different groups, folk music, traditional dances, crafts, and rural games. Saturday's activities will conclude with a performance by the Sinfónica de Tambores.

Organizer Walker Vargas noted that the event provides a platform for inland communities to present their products and culture. Local official Celia Bottaro emphasized the festival's economic and family importance, highlighting the opportunities it creates for participating local families.
