Termini Imerese to host event honoring Spatafora artist family

The city of Termini Imerese will host the third meeting of the “Appuntamento con la Storia” series on October 23, 2026. The event, organized by BCsicilia in collaboration with the Sant’Antonio Parish, will focus on the Spatafora family, a lineage of painters and sculptors who shaped the artistic and architectural landscape of the region during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Art historian Antonio Cuccia will present the history of three generations of artists: Giuseppe Spatafora senior, his son Antonino, and his grandson Giuseppe junior. The presentation will highlight their contributions to painting, sculpture, and urban planning. Giuseppe senior served as a master builder who directed the expansion of the Cassero and designed various churches, while Antonino Spatafora combined his work as a painter with significant roles in urban transformation, including the expansion of the Maggior Chiesa.
