Termoli and Campobasso hospitals receive new ophthalmology technology

Ophthalmology departments in Termoli and Campobasso-Isernia have received two state-of-the-art phaco-vitrectomy machines to enhance the treatment of cataracts and vitreoretinal pathologies.

These advanced tools allow for high-precision surgical procedures, increasing efficiency and reducing operative times, particularly in complex cases involving hard lenses. A key technical advantage is the ability to maintain stable intraocular pressure during various surgical stages, which helps prevent complications such as optic nerve damage and corneal endothelial cell loss.

This strategic investment aims to modernize regional healthcare facilities in Molise and strengthen local medical excellence. By upgrading technological capabilities, authorities hope to consolidate the activity of these departments and address the current 40% rate of active mobility, making regional structures more attractive to patients from outside the region.
