Termoli cancels cemetery management tender, union pushes for worker safeguards
The municipality of Termoli in Italy annulled the public tender for the contract to manage its municipal cemetery, citing procedural concerns. The trade union Filcams‑Cgil Molise welcomed the decision as a move toward greater transparency and administrative responsibility.
Union secretary‑general Cinzia Bonetto called the cancellation only the first step, urging the council to open a permanent dialogue with workers’ representatives. She stressed that any new bidding process must incorporate the correct collective bargaining agreement, guarantee job security for current staff, and resolve outstanding wage arrears and pay‑difference claims from the previous operator.
Filcams‑Cgil Molise pledged to monitor the forthcoming tender closely, emphasizing the need for a fair, legally compliant procurement that protects both service quality and employees’ rights.
