Terni associations seek protection for historic stadium murals

A group of associations in Terni is seeking updates from the Umbria Superintendency regarding the protection of murals located within the Libero Liberati Stadium. Created in 1975 by the Brigada Pablo Neruda, the artworks are considered significant historical and political testimonies, representing the city's solidarity with Chilean exiles following the 1973 coup.

Despite a joint inspection conducted in October 2025 and previous indications from the Superintendency that technical studies would be performed to determine conservation, restoration, or relocation methods, the associations report receiving no updates for nearly a year. The groups, including Arci Terni, Anpi Terni, and CGIL Terni, have sent a new communication to ministry offices to ensure the cultural interest of the works is preserved amidst planned stadium interventions.
