Terni Mayor Bandecchi loses council majority

Terni Mayor Stefano Bandecchi has officially lost his majority in the city council following the decision of four councilors to move to the opposition. Despite this shift, the consolidated budget was approved during a contentious session at Palazzo Spada with 15 votes in favor, 10 against, 6 abstentions, and 2 absences.

The political instability follows the formalization of a new group, ‘Per Terni’, which replaced the ‘Con Bandecchi’ designation. While the current vote allowed the administration to pass the budget, the loss of a stable majority poses significant challenges for approving future budgets and managing the planned alienation of the gas network.

The session was marked by intense verbal confrontations and procedural disputes. Mayor Bandecchi filed motions of no confidence against two commission presidents, Severoni and Sterlini, though the municipal general secretary has referred the matter to the Ministry of the Interior for a legal opinion, noting that such motions are not specifically regulated by local rules.
