Terni municipal government faces crisis as four councilors move to opposition

A political crisis has emerged in the municipality of Terni following a definitive split within the governing majority. Four city councilors—Marina Severoni, Andrea Sterlini, Andrea Colasanti, and Federica Mengaroni—have officially moved to the opposition, revoking their confidence in the mayor and the municipal board.

The councilors, who previously formed the ‘Con Bandecchi per Terni’ group, stated that their decision was a political choice made in response to recent comments by the mayor. They emphasized that the mayor does not have the authority to expel councilors from the majority or censor the use of his name, which had been authorized during the filing of electoral lists.

The administration now faces a potential loss of the numbers required to govern. With the shift of these four members, the majority is reduced to 15 councilors, including the mayor. The coming days will determine whether the administration can find a solution to the crisis or if the city will face early elections.
