Italy infrastructure: PNRR legacy and regional development projects

At the fifth Infrastructure Academy in Rome, industry leaders and experts discussed the future of Italian infrastructure following the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Enrico Giovannini of Asvis emphasized that maintaining momentum requires both continued investment and improved administrative planning to ensure long-term sustainability and resilience against climate change.

Alessandro Savino, CEO of Hilti Italia, noted that the PNRR has integrated digital tools like Building Information Modeling (BIM) into the sector, creating new managerial and digital competencies that must now be made permanent within the public administration.

Regional developments were also highlighted, including a €140 million strategy in Lazio to support startups and venture capital through Lazio Innova. In Umbria, the Terni-Narni logistics hub is projected to be fully operational by 2028, with physical infrastructure works expected to conclude by the first half of 2027. Additionally, the Lazio region has approved an extraordinary reconstruction program for the municipality of Amatrice to support post-earthquake recovery.
