Terni political groups propose twinning pact with Gaza City

Political groups in Terni, specifically the Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement, have submitted a formal proposal to the Mayor and city council to establish a twinning, friendship, and decentralized cooperation pact with Gaza City.

The proposal aims to initiate institutional contacts, potentially involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to support the local population through humanitarian, social, educational, and healthcare initiatives. It suggests creating a local solidarity table involving third-sector associations, schools, and universities to coordinate aid for vulnerable families and children.

Terni Mayor Stefano Bandecchi responded to the proposal by setting specific conditions. He stated he would support twinning with the Palestinian people led by Abu Mazen, specifying a preference for secular and moderate Palestinian representatives and explicitly excluding Hamas.
