Terni stadium murals confirmed for cultural protection

The Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Umbria has confirmed the protection of murals located within the Libero Liberati Stadium in Terni. Created in 1975 by the Brigata Pablo Neruda, the artworks are officially subject to the protections outlined in Article 50 of Legislative Decree 42/2004, the Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape.

This guarantee ensures the preservation of the murals regardless of any future redevelopment or requalification projects involving the stadium. The Ministry of Culture noted that technical progress on these works had previously been delayed due to judicial proceedings related to the ‘stadio-clinica’ project. Discussions with the municipal administration are expected to resume once those legal matters are resolved.

Additionally, the Superintendency is maintaining contact with the Central Institute for Restoration (ICR) to schedule a specialized technical inspection. This visit aims to evaluate methods for the conservation, potential relocation, and enhancement of the murals.
