Terra Bruta premieres at Gramado Film Festival, explores masculinity

The short film Terra Bruta, directed by Guilherme Suman and Allan Riggs and produced by Riggs Productions together with Suman Filmes, made its debut at the 54th Festival de Cinema de Gramado. The 19th‑century‑set drama follows a young man named Miguel as he returns to southern Brazil, confronting fragmented memories and the violent legacy of toxic masculinity.

Terra Bruta has already earned awards at festivals in Hollywood and across Brazil and was selected for an Oscar‑qualifying festival in the United States. Its visual style is deliberately dry and minimalist, using stark costumes and set design to deconstruct classic western tropes while interrogating the historical construction of western masculinity.
