Terra Drone acquires majority stake in Ukrainian drone developer

Japanese drone manufacturer Terra Drone Corporation has acquired a majority stake in Amazing Drones, a developer based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The partnership aims to produce specialized interceptor drones to counter Russian Shahed explosive drones.

The alliance has already deployed the Terra A1, a rocket-style interceptor that successfully downed a long-range aerial threat on April 28. This development represents a strategic move toward low-cost anti-drone defense systems.

Toru Tokushige, chairman of Terra Drone, sought opportunities in Ukraine after facing complex procurement processes and a market dominated by large corporations like Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan. Tokushige noted that while the Ukrainian market is saturated with mass-produced first-person view (FPV) drones assembled with Chinese components, there is a critical need for specialized interceptor technology.
