Terra Ignis Energía targets production recovery in Tierra del Fuego

Alejandro Eloff, director of Terra Ignis Energía, has outlined strategies to sustain and recover production in the mature hydrocarbon areas of Tierra del Fuego. Working alongside Velitec, the company is focusing on technical interventions, operational efficiency, and cost management to extend the useful life of existing fields.

Eloff noted that while historical production levels are unlikely to be reached because the most prolific reservoirs have already been developed, opportunities remain through technology and precise technical work. The Cuenca Austral region is characterized by a strong gas profile, with recovery factors exceeding 90% through natural exploitation and compression.

Specific field strategies include interventions in San Sebastián to manage low pressure and isolate water layers, as well as potential fracturing and punching operations in the tight reservoirs of Lago Fuego. The company plans to utilize workover equipment to intervene in more than 70 existing wells.
