Terra Industries raises $52M to expand drone manufacturing in Ghana

Terra Industries, a Nigerian defence-technology company founded in 2024, has raised a total of $52 million in seed funding following a recent $18 million investment. The company plans to use the capital to expand its manufacturing, engineering, and business development capabilities, as well as to fund deployments across Africa and other Global South markets.

A central component of this expansion is the Pax-2 facility in Accra, Ghana. Scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026, the 34,000-square-foot plant is expected to become the largest drone factory in Africa. The company projects the facility could produce up to 50,000 aerial systems annually by 2028.

While Terra Industries is expanding into Ghana and opening its first office outside of Africa in London, it maintains its presence in Nigeria. The company’s existing Pax-1 factory in Abuja remains a key part of its manufacturing network. Co-founders Nathan Nwachukwu and Maxwell Maduka cited Ghana’s engineering talent, strategic location, and government support for defence exports as primary reasons for the new facility.
