Terrasini swimming ban prompts regional inquiry

The Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) territorial group of Terrasini-Cinisi has filed an inquiry with the Sicilian Regional Assembly regarding a ban on swimming at the Peppino Impastato seafront. The group expressed concerns that the municipal ordinance lacks clear and unambiguous communication for citizens and tourists, potentially risking public health due to inadequate signage.

Nuccio Di Paola, Vice President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly and M5S coordinator, has deposited an inquiry to request intervention from competent authorities. The inquiry seeks to determine what urgent measures will be taken, noting that despite the ban, swimmers continue to enter the water and lifeguard services remain active on the affected beaches.

The M5S group also highlighted long-standing issues with the local sewage treatment plant, which they claim has been awaiting necessary upgrades for decades. They have called for more decisive communication and the installation of appropriate warning signs to ensure public safety.
