Terrassa animal center under scrutiny after two dogs die of heatstroke

Animal welfare associations are denouncing the deaths of two dogs, Kaiser and Ronnie, due to heatstroke in Terrassa. The Associació 4 Petjades Animals claims that temperatures inside the enclosures at the Centre d'Adopcions d'Animals Domèstics (CAAD) reached extreme levels, exceeding 35 ºC in the shade, and noted a lack of adequate shade or protective mesh in outdoor areas.

The Terrassa City Council stated that the two cases are unrelated. Regarding Ronnie, officials claimed the dog was not yet housed at the CAAD but suffered heatstroke during a transfer by an external collection service. Ronnie was rushed to the Veterinary Hospital of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) but could not be saved. Regarding Kaiser, the council acknowledged the animal was housed at the center.
