Terrassa holds memorial for Venezuela earthquake victims
The city of Terrassa held a memorial service to honor the victims of the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela. The event took place on September 24 at the Terrassa Funeral Service cemetery temple.
Organized by the Terrassa Funeral Service in collaboration with the Venezuelan Residents Association in Terrassa (ASOVENTE), the ceremony served as a space for remembrance and support for the families of those lost. The memorial was attended by Terrassa Mayor Jordi Ballart, Councilor Laura Rivas, and members of the local Venezuelan community.
The commemoration follows the dual earthquakes of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude that hit Venezuela on June 24, 2026. The disaster resulted in approximately 6,438 deaths and 73,356 injuries, while causing significant damage to housing, infrastructure, and the Maiquetía International Airport.
