Terravision Electric protests airport shuttle market inequalities
Terravision Electric S. p. A. has issued an open letter to Italian and European officials, including Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala and EU Parliament member Matteo Ricci, protesting perceived inequalities in the European airport shuttle market.
The company highlights a discrepancy in market access: while foreign brands like Flibco are permitted to compete for service bays at Milan Central Station, Terravision has faced total exclusion from Brussels-Charleroi Airport. Terravision President Giovanni Fabi noted that the Belgian airport has granted a sub-concession to Flibco until 2034, a duration the company suggests may exceed the 12-year limit for public concessions.
Terravision argues that these monopolistic practices lead to higher costs for passengers. The company claims that in multi-operator markets like Lombardy, prices are approximately 10 euros, whereas in protected markets, fares can exceed 20 euros for a 60-kilometer trip. The firm is calling for transparency, non-discrimination, and equal access to ensure fair competition across the EU.
