Terrigal emergency crews search for swimmer, find seal
Emergency services conducted a multi-agency search operation at Terrigal Haven on Friday morning following reports of a person struggling in the water approximately 50 metres off the rocks. The search involved Marine Rescue Terrigal, NSW Water Police, Surf Life Saving, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
After more than an hour and a half, crews were stood down by the NSW Police Marine Area Command after discovering a seal in the area. Authorities confirmed there were no reported missing persons, and police foot patrols found no abandoned clothing or towels on the Terrigal Esplanade. A spokesperson for Marine Rescue NSW emphasized that emergency services respond to all reports as part of their duty of care, even when the incident may involve wildlife.
