Terrion Arnold placed on NFL exempt list amid legal charges

NFL cornerback Terrion Arnold has been placed on the commissioner’s exempt list as he faces serious legal charges. Arnold, a former first-round pick, was arrested in Florida and charged with kidnapping and robbery. Prosecutors allege he orchestrated the abduction and beating of three men suspected of stealing cash and luxury goods from him.

Following his arrest, the Detroit Lions released Arnold, stating that the decision to move on from the player was “the best and right thing” for the organization after receiving additional information regarding the situation. Detroit General Manager Brad Holmes noted that while the situation was unfortunate, the club chose to move forward.

In contrast, the Seattle Seahawks signed Arnold on August 29. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald stated that the team conducted due diligence and received “overwhelmingly positive” feedback regarding the player before agreeing to the signing. Under the NFL's exempt list designation, players are permitted to attend meetings and workouts but are prohibited from participating in games or practices while investigations or legal proceedings are ongoing.
