Terry Denton, acclaimed children's author and illustrator, dies at 76

Renowned Australian author and illustrator Terry Denton has died at the age of 76. He passed away on Monday, September 21, surrounded by his family, according to statements from his literary agency, Curtis Brown, and publisher, Pan Macmillan.

Denton was widely recognized for his long-standing collaboration with author Andy Griffiths on the '13-Storey Treehouse' series, a partnership spanning three decades. He was also well known for his 'Gasp!' series, which was adapted for television, and his work on the Australian television series 'Lift Off', where he designed the iconic EC doll.

Throughout his career, Denton received numerous accolades, including the 1986 Children’s Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year Award for 'Felix and Alexander'. He also provided illustrations for various authors, such as Mem Fox and Paul Jennings. His collaborator, Andy Griffiths, described him as a 'true clown' and a beloved figure both personally and within the Treehouse series.
