Terry Fox Runs raise funds for cancer research across Canada

Communities across Canada held annual Terry Fox Runs on September 20 to raise funds for cancer research and honor the legacy of the Marathon of Hope.

In Wingham, the event set a new fundraising record of $42,000, with approximately $28,000 raised through online pledges. In Langley, more than 200 participants raised over $18,012. Other local efforts included Clearwater, which raised $2,326, and 100 Mile House, which saw its first run in seven years, raising $1,407.

In Surrey, organizers welcomed special guest Alison Ince, a former nurse at Royal Columbian Hospital who served as a media liaison during Terry Fox’s final days in 1981. Ince, 91, shared reflections on the global impact of Fox’s journey and his resolve to find a cure for cancer.
