Terry McLaurin suffers season-ending injury
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has suffered a torn patellar tendon, ending his 2026 season. The injury occurred during a 23–17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Dan Quinn described McLaurin as a captain and a vital leader for the franchise.
McLaurin, who has recorded five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons since being drafted in 2019, will now face surgery and a lengthy recovery process. The loss significantly impacts the Commanders' passing attack, which had previously seen success with the duo of McLaurin and quarterback Jayden Daniels.
With McLaurin sidelined, veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs is expected to take over the WR1 role. Diggs, who has been managing a hamstring issue and playing roughly 60 percent of snaps, will face increased responsibilities to support the offense. Other potential contributors include rookie Antonio Williams and Treylon Burks.
