Hanshin Tigers pitcher Yuta Iwasada announces retirement

In Japanese professional baseball, Hanshin Tigers pitcher Yuta Iwasada has announced his retirement at age 35. A first-round draft pick in 2013, Iwasada spent his entire 13-year career with the Tigers, appearing in 304 games as both a starter and a reliever.

In recent league action, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp secured a 5-3 victory over the DeNA BayStars, avoiding a drop to last place. The win was highlighted by a ninth-inning two-run hit from Kikuchi and a victory for pitcher Osera.

Meanwhile, the Chunichi Dragons fell to the Yakult Swallows 3-5. Despite a defensive standout by infielder Yuki Fukunaga, who executed a sliding catch and double play, the Dragons suffered their fourth consecutive loss and dropped to the bottom of the standings.
