Tervel: 81-year-old woman in critical condition after home robbery

An 81-year-old woman from Tervel is in critical condition and remains in a coma following a violent robbery at her home. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 7–8, when an intruder entered the residence through an open window.

According to the Dobrich District Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was intoxicated and entered the home with the intent to steal belongings. When the victim awoke and cried for help, the assailant reportedly covered her mouth, pushed her to the ground, and beat her across her body before stealing her phone and fleeing. The victim's son discovered her in critical condition several hours later and summoned emergency services.

A 35-year-old man with a prior criminal record for theft and fraud has been detained in connection with the attack. Investigators believe the suspect encountered the house by chance while passing by. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment in a Dobrich hospital, where doctors are fighting for her life.
