Tesco expands with two new stores and wider online service in Slovakia

On 25 June 2026 Tesco opened two brand‑new supermarkets in Slovakia – one in Chorvátsky Grob (Senec district) and another in Zákamenné (Námestovo district). The stores, covering 1,440 m² and 900 m² respectively, feature modern technologies such as Scan & Shop and a mix of self‑service and staffed checkout lanes.

At the same time Tesco completed a modernisation of its Turzovka outlet and extended its Tesco Online Shopping service to the Komárno area, bringing the online platform to 4.64 million Slovaks, or over 85 % of the population. With the new openings the retailer now operates 185 physical stores across the country.

To support local communities, Tesco pledged to donate €1 for every purchase over €10 made during the first two days of the openings to nearby primary schools. The Zákamenné store also created 14 new jobs.
