Tesco Foundation launches 30,000 euro food waste grant program in Slovakia
Nadácia Tesco has announced the seventh edition of its 'Záchranári jedla' (Food Saviors) grant program in Slovakia. The initiative aims to distribute 30,000 euros to projects dedicated to combating food waste across the country.
Eligible applicants include non-governmental organizations, municipalities, schools, and other entities. Individual grants will range between 6,000 and 10,000 euros. The call for applications is scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026, coinciding with the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, and will remain open until November 3, 2026.
To date, the foundation has provided a total of 240,000 euros in support for food waste reduction efforts. The 30,000 euro sum for this year is intended to mark Tesco's 30th anniversary of operations in Slovakia. An expert commission consisting of Tesco employees and food waste specialists will select the winning projects, with results expected in early December 2026.
