Tesco recalls Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad over E. coli fears

Tesco has issued an urgent recall for its Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad (215g) due to potential contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). The Food Standards Agency has issued a food alert, warning that STEC can cause severe illness, including abdominal pain, vomiting, and in serious cases, kidney failure.

The recall specifically affects products with use-by dates of August 25, August 26, and August 27, 2026. Tesco is advising customers who purchased the affected salad not to eat it and to return it to their nearest store for a full refund. A receipt is not required for the refund.

Health officials advise that anyone experiencing symptoms of E. coli infection should stay away from work, school, or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to prevent spreading the illness.
