Tesla adds new traction control modes to Model 3 and Model Y

Tesla announced that its 2026 Summer Update will add three new Traction Control Modes to the Model 3 and Model Y. The modes – Auto, Slippery Surface and Stuck Assist – were previously available only on the Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. Drivers can select a mode via Controls > Dynamics > Traction Control, and the system automatically resets to Auto at the start of each drive. The feature is designed to improve handling on wet, icy, snowy, muddy or sandy surfaces, activating at speeds up to 48 km/h and deactivating automatically above 80 km/h. Tesla began rolling the update out to owners and expects it to become widely available in the coming weeks, enhancing safety for users of the Full Self‑Driving suite under adverse weather conditions.
