Tesla announces European launch of Tesla Semi truck

Tesla has announced the upcoming arrival of the Tesla Semi in the European market, unveiling technical specifications during the IAA Transportation trade fair in Hannover. While the electric heavy-duty truck has operated in the United States for several years, European deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2027.

The European version of the Semi is designed for a total combination weight of 40 tons. It features an estimated range of up to 550 kilometers under specific conditions, including a speed of 80 km/h and a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, with an estimated energy consumption of 1.0 kWh per kilometer.

To support long-haul operations, Tesla is expanding its Megacharger network. The Semi is capable of charging at up to 800 kW, which Tesla claims can restore approximately 60 percent of the range in 30 minutes. For depot charging, a 120 kW Basecharger option is also available. The vehicle includes an electric power take-off (ePTO) capable of delivering up to 25 kW for auxiliary equipment such as refrigeration units.
