Tesla announces Roadster reveal date amid Volkswagen efficiency concept

Tesla has announced a presentation date of October 1, 2026, for its highly anticipated second-generation Roadster. The announcement, teased with the phrase “Go for launch,” suggests the vehicle may feature SpaceX-inspired cold gas thrusters, a concept Elon Musk has discussed since 2018 to enhance acceleration.

Invitations sent to reservation holders indicate the event will take place in Waco, Texas. The Roadster prototype was originally unveiled in 2017, and its production has faced numerous delays. The vehicle is expected to feature high-performance specifications, including a potential 0–100 km/h acceleration in under two seconds.

In separate automotive news, Volkswagen has unveiled its Mission Efficiency concept, aimed at becoming the world’s most efficient electric vehicle. Based on the ID. Polo platform, the concept features an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.158 and achieved an average consumption of 7.5 kWh/100 km during real-world testing. It also includes integrated solar panels on the roof to extend daily range.
