Tesla begins volume production of Semi truck and joins $2.8B chip deal
Tesla has transitioned its Semi electric truck from pilot production to commercial-scale manufacturing. This move aims to expand the company's presence in the freight transportation and large commercial fleet markets.
In a separate strategic move, Tesla and Nvidia have committed a combined $2.8 billion to expand advanced chip substrate production. This investment, which includes a deal with Samsung, is intended to support the development of Tesla’s autonomous driving chips and Optimus humanoid robot hardware.
Despite these developments, Tesla reported a third-quarter net income of $787 million, as expansion efforts have introduced new cost pressures. The company's stock (TSLA) saw a slight decline of 0.63% to $372.22.
