Tesla CEO compensation and Greek subsidiary performance
Data from the AFL-CIO for 2025 highlights a massive compensation gap at Tesla. Elon Musk’s total compensation reached approximately €134.8 billion, primarily driven by performance-based incentives rather than a standard cash salary. This results in a pay ratio of 2,522,203 to 1 compared to the median employee salary of approximately €48,800. In comparison, other major US automakers show significantly lower ratios: Ford stands at 295 to 1, General Motors at 333 to 1, and Rivian at approximately 100 to 1.
In Greece, Tesla Greece has completed eight years of operation. While the subsidiary reported a decrease in turnover—falling from €87.2 million in 2024 to €60.2 million in 2025—its gross profit margins improved from 10% to 18%, reaching €10.8 million. The decline in revenue is attributed to the phase-out of Model S and Model X sales, with commercial focus shifting toward the Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla Greece operates as the exclusive distributor for Tesla Motors Netherlands B.V. and maintains service and showroom locations in Marousi, Glyfada, Kifisia, and Thessaloniki.
