Tesla crash near Los Angeles Trader Joe's kills one, injures others

An 80-year-old driver lost control of a white Tesla sedan on Thursday afternoon, causing a fatal crash near a busy Trader Joe's in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 1:21 p.m. in the 7900 block of 3rd Street, near The Grove shopping center.

According to investigators, the vehicle struck a parked car and multiple pedestrians before smashing into a pink security structure in the grocery store's parking lot. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that one person died at the scene. At least four other individuals were injured and transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The driver remained at the scene and was also among those hospitalized. While Tesla's driver-assistance systems have faced previous federal scrutiny, authorities have not yet determined if speed, mechanical failure, or driver error caused this specific collision.
